Part 4 of the BFH Mindset & Wellness series, inspired by Marisa Peer's five RTT® principles. These are practical ideas, not universal laws of neuroscience.
Have you ever tried so hard to relax that you became more tense?
When Trying Harder Backfires
Trying to force sleep or suppress an unwanted thought can sometimes increase tension. That doesn't mean effort is bad: it means different goals benefit from different approaches.
Reduce the Pressure
Rather than demanding a perfect daily workout, begin with a manageable walk, allow rest days and choose nourishing meals you actually enjoy.
Make Healthy Choices Easier
Prepare your workout clothes, choose a convenient time and focus on starting instead of proving something. Reduce unnecessary obstacles and give yourself room to adapt.
Less pressure can support more consistency. This is general wellness education, not treatment for sleep or mental health conditions.
Inspired by RTT® principles; independent educational adaptation, not an official RTT® publication.
